Welcome to Friday Finds, 10-25-2024. I hope you've had a wonderful week. I'm continually looking at numbers and stats to see where my best engagement is coming from on the blog and the newsletter. I'm compiling a list of features I can devote my time and resources to. Like everyone these days, I need to get the most bang for my buck! Hopefully, I can make some adjustments by the new year. All other announcements will be at the close of this email. This week's website edition features:
Weekly Friday Finds | 10-25-2024 | Trivia Time Here's this week's trivia question: What condiment was used for its medicinal qualities in the 1800s? The answer to last week’s question: Stephen King said, “Books are a uniquely portable magic.” King has said that he carries books with him wherever he goes and listens to them in the car. He has also said that books are as important to him as anything else he might pack. Weekly Friday Finds |10-25-2024 | Indie Authors/BBNYA I'm spotlighting one BBNYA semifinalist every day until Dec 4, 2024! (All 59 of them!) I decided to give them a separate section in the Friday Finds for now. These Independent Authors deserve kudos for outstanding books in all genres. Click here to see this week's winners! Here is another Indie Author pick for Spooky Season! It’s Halloween, and Cassie and Tessa find themselves knee-deep in a murder mystery when two skeletons are discovered. In this intimate and open account—nothing like any rock-and-roll memoir you’ve ever read—Alex Van Halen shares his personal story of family, friendship, music, and brotherly love in a remarkable tribute to his beloved brother and bandmate. Hello Reader, Some weeks my reading stays fairly close to one genre, and then there are weeks like this one. I bounced from children's books to space opera to knitting patterns—and I loved every minute of it. I've always been a reading lane hopper. Give me an interesting story, an intriguing character, or simply something I'm curious about, and I'm willing to wander outside my usual shelves. I think that's part of the fun of being a reader. We never quite know what we'll discover next. This...
Hello Reader, August always makes me want to hold onto summer just a little longer. The sweet corn and tomatoes are at their best, there are still plenty of warm afternoons for reading, and I’m not quite ready to start talking about falling leaves and pumpkin spice. (Although I know some of you are!) This week’s Friday Finds turned into a celebration of those simple late-summer pleasures. 📚 From My Reading Chair, I’m sharing two very different books. Surviving Summer Camp by Paul Breau is a...
Hi Reader, This week's Friday Finds has a particularly cozy feel. I found myself thinking about the kinds of stories that linger long after the last page, paired with simple summer comforts like blackberry muffins and a favorite cup of tea. I also had the chance to shine a spotlight on an author whose books have become reliable companions over the past few years. Whether you're looking for your next read or just a relaxing few minutes with fellow book lovers, I think you'll enjoy this week's...
