A few little treasures for your October reading

HiReader,

This week's Friday Finds came together around the idea of little treasures for readers.

I'm featuring children's author Michelle Olson, whose Bellie Button Books feel a bit like tiny treasures discovered in a craft box. Her stories use photography and handcrafted characters to explore friendship, feelings, confidence, and other everyday moments that can feel very big when you're little.

I'm also sharing two very different recent reads: Delaware Keepers by Dave Tabler and Soldier's Joy by M.F. Jones. One looks back at the lighthouse keepers and families who guarded Delaware's coast, while the other connects two soldiers across two centuries through history, mystery, and a touch of the supernatural.

For something warm to sip while you read, this week's Sip & Savor is an easy Honey Vanilla Latte. And the Featured Find is especially fun: an autumn-themed Blind Date with a Book box filled with a surprise novel and bookish extras.

Community Corner has a couple of updates too, including P.J. Gudka's October sale on Perfect and news from the final round of BBNYA 2026.

And this week's reader question is a nostalgic one:

What is one children's book you still remember fondly from growing up?

I'd love to know which story has stayed with you all these years.

🍎 Happy Friday, Reader! Remember that apple crisp I shared last week? Well, I finally made it, but not before someone in my household ate the apples I'd set aside! The Great Apple Heist of 2026 has a happy ending, though. The replacement apples survived, the kitchen smelled heavenly, and the finished crisp was absolutely delicious. Even the apple thief himself approved, declaring, "You can't buy apple crisp like this." I suppose that means he's forgiven. Maybe. 😂 And there's plenty more...
